Chengalpattu
From Madurai MK Tours & travels.Chengalpattu, previously known as Chinglepet, is a town and the headquarters of Chengalpattu district of the state Tamil Nadu, India. The town is located near to the industrial and IT hub. It is the headquarters of the district and is 56 kilometres (35 mi) away from the state capital, Chennai on the National Highway 45.It is an important commercial centre. It has a medical college and other colleges affiliated with the University of Madras. In 2011, the town had a population of 62,579. As of now the current population is approximately 85,000.
Vedagiriswarar Temple thirukalukundram
Tirukalukundram is known for the Vedagiriswarar temple complex, popularly known as Kazhugu koil (Eagle temple). This temple consists of two structures, one at the foot-hill and the other at the top-hill. The main attraction, the large hill-top temple houses the deity of Shiva, known as Vedagiriswarar. The temple at the foot-hills is dedicated to his consort Parvati, known here as Thiripurasundari Amman. The temple at the foot-hills has four towers (gopurams) closely resembling the architecture of the Annamalaiyar Temple.
Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary
It is one of India’s biggest water bird sanctuaries, located 25 kilometres from Chengalpattu. The birds build their nests on the limbs of submerged trees. Some of the species that visit during the season include storks, egrets, cormorants, darters, flamingos, pelicans, moorhens, herons, kingfishers, sandpipers, white ibis, spoonbills, swans, and grey wagtails. The finest season is between October and March, when many migrating birds arrive. The birds may be seen from either the bank or the watchtower. Kandaswamy Temple
This temple is one of Tamil Nadu’s 33 Murugan temples. During the Pallava period, this structure was constructed. The temple is around 25 kilometres from Chengalpattu. Thiruporur has been given the names Poraiyur, Yudhapuri, and Samar Puri. This is where an old temple dedicated to Lord Muruga was founded in OMR. Several inscriptions can be found throughout the temple.
Srinevasa perumal temple
The Archaeological Department indicates that the current construction is around 500 years old. Locals, however, refer to it as a 1500-year-old temple. It is located 30 kilometres from Chennai on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) in Semmanjeri. It is stated that a Pallava monarch who had lost his vision came here to worship Srinivasa Perumal and regained his vision. Even now, locals think that worshipping the Perumal here would heal anyone with eye issues. This is also supposed to be a Prahtana sthalam for childless and unmarried couples.
Thiruvidanthai temple
The almost 1000-year-old Nithya Kalyana Perumal Temple is located on the East Coast Road between Chennai and Mamallapuram. Varaha Perumal, also known as Nitya Kalyana Perumal, is the lovely deity here. Unmarried devotees who worship the god are said to receive marital happiness.
